I have been acting, dancing and singing for most of my life. I have decided to write a book to help other young artists live in the best way possible in this wonderful but crazy city. I thought it would be nice if you could "meet" me. I have provided some information about myself and my experiences in New York and beyond. This way you can know where the advice is coming from. I wish you all the best!

Months have past since I have posted, you may or many not be wondering, where has the Resource Girl been? She has been putting out personal fires and attempting to take all of her own splendid advice.

Last night I slipped out of my campground, I affectionately call my apartment “The Campground”, and placed myself in the arms of a nurturing little group on meetup.com called The New York Cultural Circle. It was held in a persian rug shop on the upper west side. Vegan treats, yummy beef cheek and delish, if not turkish delights, deserts equally enchanting to the tongue. We were a very eclectic group with all age ranges, economic classes and races. There to share our works of art perfected, in progress, maybe just the seedling of an idea-we were met with open arms of support as well as warm Turkish tea served by our gracious host. Each one opening their hearts to a perfect stranger and revealing the thing that really “jazzes” them.

Reading from my book aloud reminded me of the implulsive, forward thinking energy that I had when I wrote it. It put me right up close and personal with my best self. Feeling I provided encouragment to others, as they did to me, and a profound reminder that I have been hiding in my tent for too long.

In New York City things can happen fast. I have heard that Luck is when an opportunity is presented and you are prepared.

Fun money saving tricks: The Sample. Right now we are having a season change and many times our skin will reflect that change, how can you get a facial in this economy? Go to the different Sephora stores around the city and ask for a sample of their cleansers, lotions and masks. Today I got a sample of Fresh’s Rose Petal Mask. One question, one minute and I got a great sample of a product that costs 55 bucks. While writing this blog I am doing my 10 Rose Petal (with cool cucumber) Mask.

I have a relationship with promotions as I do them constantly but today I wasn’t doing one but at Rockefeller Center they are having one showing the harvesting techniques of Cranberries. Fun Job, wading in water, but I learned they are the real deal, not promo models. Boo Hoo, I was ready to jump right in.

Doing the activities in my American Health and Fitness Alliance Pass Book is proving to be very beneficial. This past week I did Yoga with Mozart Music and Candles and Kick Boxing, all for free. However the most interesting thing I have done is Nutritional Responce Testing today to see where there are weaknesses in my meridians. It is an ancient oriental technique but now it is computerized. East Meets West.

As I am in transition I am seeking the next step and one of the things that is helping with that is, is the information at www.intergrativenutrition.com. Check it out, if you are looking for a healthy change, more on that later.

Recently I was so excited to see that Starbucks has a small card that you can attach to your key chain. Most drug stores and grocery stores have this discount or point reward system that easily attaches to your key chain and I was wondering why not Starbucks, but alas they have jumped on the incredible convenience wagon as well.

If you get a credit card sized card or the smaller cuter one for your key chain, they have cool benefits that you get when you register the card on-line.

Q: What are the benefits of joining Starbucks Card Rewards?
A: By registering your Starbucks Card, you’re eligible for Starbucks Card Rewards and balance protection on your card. You can enjoy great savings with Starbucks Card Rewards:

Free syrup and milk options for your beverage.
Free brewed coffee refills (hot or iced).
Free Tall (12 fl oz) beverage with your 1 lb whole bean purchase.
Up to two hours free AT&T Wi-Fi per day.

These facts are provided from www.starbucks.com

I feel a bit peppier just thinking about my free coffees all day after my initial purchase, I am not sure if I will ever leave the store.

Strange weather we are having here in NYC. I have not used my air conditioner one time. I suppose that is a good thing because one of mine does not work very well. What have I been up to lately? Mmmmm, working, trying to get more work and so on…

The book, “I’m Here, Now What?! An Artist’s Survival Guide for NYC!” continues to sell on Amazon.com, YEAH!!!!

Random note: Jovanotti a VERY famous Italian pop singer, now turned african beat funk rapper is performing in Manhattan and Brooklyn. It is not important to speak Italian to catch his seriously-contagious-charismatic-vibe! He is here for two months, soaking up our scene to then infuse our urban beat deeper into his global sound.

(Se leggesi questo e riesci a mandarmi Il Grande Bho scritto da lui, Jovanotti anche conosciuto come Lorenzo, contattami e vi mando il mio indirizzo, perche’ voglio questo bel libro!)

Another cool thing, I am starting a Mastermind Group on Monday. It is for women only, but if you have an interest in being a part of this group, send me a message. It is only an in-person group. It is a supportive group for stomping out our obstacles that holdest back from being our best selves. If you have been reading this for awhile, most of you know, in December I had an “earthquake” in my life and currently I am doing everything I can to rebuild my house.

Wishing you a lovely summer, wherever you may be… RG

Yes it is true the Resource Girl took a respite for approximately the last five months. However, I want to assure you that come June the 1st, I will be back in action.

New York City is one of the most alive places in the summer. I don’t think there is any other place in the world where you can visit so many events for free. The streets and parks begin to vibrate with outdoor concerts, art shows and street fairs. One of my favorite things I ever saw was at the Fringe Festival, there were iceskaters in a small park when the degrees outside was more than 80 degrees. They placed these plastic pieces that had a frozen liquid substance on top and they iceskated. The theatrical piece in itself was forgetable but not the fact they were iceskating in the thick of the summer.

As mentioned before, for the past 5 almost 6 months, I have lived in LIMBO. No, not Dumbo, that is an actual place to live, LIMBO is a state of being where there is no past and no future. No I am not being pessimistic or dramatic. For me LIMBO LAND has consisted of seeing what is in front of me without looking at my watch or at my calender. I have always prided myself in having goals and a calender that reflects those goals. Currently my calender has the weekend taken care of, I am going to the Book Expo, and after that, well, I want to work my arse off, but other than that…

In these strange moments of LIMBO I am tasting my food more, I am noticing people’s expressions more, I really am living more in the moment. If I were to return to acting, yes, sometimes it does enter my mind, I think this time will be really helpful in that artform or in any other art form. Present in the moment, living fully in the moment, thanking God or the Universe for that moment, without regret for the past mistakes or anxiety for the future.

In June I will be posting free activities so that we can all manage in some way to enjoy our life, even in an economic crisis. I look forward to celebrating life with all of you this summer.

All the best,
