In New York one thing you will always find are people that think big. There are people that are writing books (like me), writing songs (I recently met a homeless person who sang me one of the songs that she had written about loving people even when you don’t have the money to pay the bills), dreaming of owning a penthouse on Central Park South and so on. And there isn’t anyone that thinks bigger than Donald Trump.
Having just read his book “Think Big and Kick A–” (my site is rated G as I frequently judge dancing with kids ranging from 3-18) I feel like I, too, can return to my “thinking BIG!” I have always thought big but recently I was down in the dumps a little bit, okay more than a little bit, and I had lost some of my momentum. So I bought Joel Osteen’s “Be a Better You” and Donald Trump’s new book. They are extremely different as one is from a christian perspective and the other is from a more real world perspective, but they are both encouraging in their own ways.
I am telling you all this because I have learned that you have to fill your mind and surround yourself with people who think big. Maybe you are considering coming to New York and people are saying “It’s too hard there. There is too much competition. It’s so expensive and so on.” These people may even be your well-meaning parents. But the thing is with people who are successful ( I have listened to all the tapes of Anthony Robbins Personal Power 2 and I have attended T. Harv Ekers seminars author of “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” I have also met Mark Victor Hansen of the famed Chicken Soup for the soul series) is they have taught me “THERE IS NOT RIGHT TIME TO START ANYTHING. THERE IS NO RIGHT ECONOMIC CLIMATE. THERE IS NO RIGHT GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION. THERE IS THE TIME OF NOW. NOW IS AS GOOD AS TIME AS ANY TO START LIVING YOUR DREAMS.” Another important thing they have taught me is that you can’t calculate all the risks before you jump in. You can’t know everything. You just have to get started and you will learn as you go. You will also make mistakes. But that is part of the game of successs. As you read these masters of success, you will see that they too have fallen but they get right back up.
So whatever it is you are focusing on right now, just hug your mother and say thanks for your advice but I am going to trust my instincts and go for it. Just remember wherever you are to eat your veggies and drink tons of water and do whatever you can to have health insurance, so your mother won’t worry so much.
