Visual Artists Take Note

October 24th, 2007

On November the 10th in Chelsea there is going to be a walking tour that will end with a reception and silent aution. As the time comes closer, or maybe even tomorrow, I will post the information so you can put it on your calenders. There is a FREE gift involved and I love that part, however it’s 40 bucks for the day. I will find out what that money is going towards, maybe a charity, we can hope.

Thinking Big, no better place to do it, than in NYC!

October 24th, 2007

In New York one thing you will always find are people that think big. There are people that are writing books (like me), writing songs (I recently met a homeless person who sang me one of the songs that she had written about loving people even when you don’t have the money to pay the bills), dreaming of owning a penthouse on Central Park South and so on. And there isn’t anyone that thinks bigger than Donald Trump.

Having just read his book “Think Big and Kick A–” (my site is rated G as I frequently judge dancing with kids ranging from 3-18) I feel like I, too, can return to my “thinking BIG!” I have always thought big but recently I was down in the dumps a little bit, okay more than a little bit, and I had lost some of my momentum. So I bought Joel Osteen’s “Be a Better You” and Donald Trump’s new book. They are extremely different as one is from a christian perspective and the other is from a more real world perspective, but they are both encouraging in their own ways.

I am telling you all this because I have learned that you have to fill your mind and surround yourself with people who think big. Maybe you are considering coming to New York and people are saying “It’s too hard there. There is too much competition. It’s so expensive and so on.” These people may even be your well-meaning parents. But the thing is with people who are successful ( I have listened to all the tapes of Anthony Robbins Personal Power 2 and I have attended T. Harv Ekers seminars author of “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” I have also met Mark Victor Hansen of the famed Chicken Soup for the soul series) is they have taught me “THERE IS NOT RIGHT TIME TO START ANYTHING. THERE IS NO RIGHT ECONOMIC CLIMATE. THERE IS NO RIGHT GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION. THERE IS THE TIME OF NOW. NOW IS AS GOOD AS TIME AS ANY TO START LIVING YOUR DREAMS.” Another important thing they have taught me is that you can’t calculate all the risks before you jump in. You can’t know everything. You just have to get started and you will learn as you go. You will also make mistakes. But that is part of the game of successs. As you read these masters of success, you will see that they too have fallen but they get right back up.

So whatever it is you are focusing on right now, just hug your mother and say thanks for your advice but I am going to trust my instincts and go for it. Just remember wherever you are to eat your veggies and drink tons of water and do whatever you can to have health insurance, so your mother won’t worry so much.

I like the words to this song so I am passing them on…

When you see yourself, what do you find?

Does it make you close your heart?

Maybe even shut your mind?

The Time is Now, no turning back.

You have to look into your soul.

What makes it move?

Is there room for you to grow?

Look into your soul, way down below,

Lift the Cloud and Let it go.

Can you believe this weather?!

October 21st, 2007

How great it is to have an extended summer in New York City, maybe we can all go trick or treating in our bathing suits. 🙂 I love that idea, I think for some of us it would mean getting a really quick date or two, not that I am looking, I am spoken for.

Anyway, enjoy these times when we can, because we all know NYC can be a bear in the winter.

Ciao, RG

Friday night ramblings of a real New York Gal.

October 19th, 2007

Okay so it’s Friday night and I just finished watching Men in Trees. It’s cute but it just continues to put the message out there that it is so hard to find the right person.

I have always been convinced if we could get married when we are 16 that would be awesome. Yes I know this is a totally departure from my usual notes and comments on my beloved home NYC, but here I am. I think this way because if we choose someone based totally on hormones, like we do at 16 or 17, then we know at least one part of our relationship will always be totally rockin’.

Anyway, I am sort of kidding. But really one of the things I like about this show is all of the scenes of nature. I have mentioned it before, when you live in New York, you need to at least once a month seek out some trees, and I don’t just mean the ones in Central Park. Real trees without that homeless guy sleeping next to it. No I am not against homeless people but at least in real nature you have to worry only about poison ivy and not about flesh eating bacteria, yes in New York City, they found flesh eating bacteria all over the pay phones. Most people today don’t even need a payphone but if you ever do use one, make sure to wear your rubber gloves and then apply Purell.

If I could only feel like this all the time

I was thinking today about times when I have been the happiest. I think when things are not going so great, we should take time to remember these times.

I love this website-Word of Mouse!

October 19th, 2007

Okay so this site really isn’t about saving money, well not at all. But sometimes I like to talk about things that I like, just because I like them. Here you can find information on Magnolia Bakery or the Twin Farms Resort somewhere somewhat nearby in New York State. The coolest thing about this site are the Gurus. I have pasted one from the site on my site. They are cute. They are full of cool tips. Warning though this whole site might be only window shopping for an artist not quite on their feet, but it really clearly communicates the cool vibe of diversity that this city has to offer.

Free IceCream Tasty Delight-Oct. 19th. Fri.

October 18th, 2007

I told you that the Resource Girl loves free stuff and I got a hot tip for a free cool item from my pal Melissa. Thanks Melissa. I don’t know how or why but Tasty Delight is giving out Free Icecream tomorrow in NYC. There are locations all over the city. My favorite one in around 44th street on 8th or 9th where there are also computers and a great place to sit. Enjoy!
